Hiking in Woods and Meadows, Mountains and Valleys

Here you have a front row seat before the Alps, whose panorama of mountain peaks reaches up as high as 2,600 meters (8,530 feet), offering a most fantastic view.
Several hundred kilometers of walking and hiking trails encompass the area. They are reliably marked so that anyone can set off on his or her own. The paths are comfortably flat, yet varying, so that around each bend new and surprising views of the Allgäu await you. Traditional-style cozy mountain inns entice you to take a break with their foaming beer and hearty meals. In the tourist offices of the six villages (Rieden, Roßhaupten, Seeg, Hopferau, Eisenberg, Rückholz) group hikes are also offered. Participating is always worthwhile, as the guides are not stingy with their insider tips for your holiday in Allgäu.
Of course the mountains are not just for looking at, but also for climbing. For that you are here at the ideal starting point. After just a short drive by car you arrive at the outset and are on your way, along amazing trails up to the worthy crests. Gondolas and chair lifts offer assistance in ascending the Tegelberg, the Breitenberg, and the Alpspitze. The views are breathtaking and will make your holiday into something special.
Cycling in Southern Allgäu and the Emmentaler-Bicycle Path
The southern Allgäu is a real paradise for all friends of cycling. You will find an excellent network of bicycle paths with varying degrees of difficulty. And amongst the gorgeous Allgäu scenery, cycling is even more fun!

Those who are interested can take a boat ride with a Forggensee boat. Those who prefer to be the captain themselves can rent a pedal-boat, but also rowboats, electric boats, and sailboats are available.
In the Forggensee Yacht Club little and big water sportsmen can take sailing lessons. Windsurfing and kiting is also possible in many lakes. Particularly popular for this is the Weissensee because at certain times there is always a strong wind.
Even fishermen get their money’s worth in Allgäu. Fishing licenses for most of the lakes and ponds are easily attainable. On some bodies of water you can not only fish from the shore, but even from a rowboat. Only motor boats are, of course, taboo.
Besides scuba-divers, many other water sportsmen find excellent conditions for organizing their customized vacations in southern Allgäu. And those who find it all too strenuous can simply sit on the shore and enjoy the scenery.
Hospitality and Tradition
But above all, the six quaint Allgäu villages lure you with their truly lived traditions and rural tranquility. Today, just as in earlier times, brass band concerts, traditional dress parades, and village festivals play an important role in the villages. Guests and tourists are always welcome to join in on the festive Allgäuer spirit. Hopferau, Seeg, Rieden and Roßhaupten all portray the typical Allgäuer from his humorous side in their rural folk theater productions.
